There is something about men’s bow ties. Some men don’t even wear them, and some have never worn them ever in their entire life. But it’s hard to deny that they are very stylish and a perfect accompaniment to a tuxedo, for example. However, there is some level of etiquette attached to the bowtie, and some unwritten rules too. In this article we will look at some aspects of men’s bow ties, how to wear them for example, and also how not to wear them.

We will start off with the obvious. The tuxedo and bow tie are the perfect match, and this particular combination has been in place for many years. From James Bond to any stylish gentleman who wants to make an impact on an evening out, the bowtie and the tuxedo were made for each other. Timeless and incredibly stylish, this combination suits almost any man. The biggest problem with the bowtie and tuxedo combination though, is the fact that so many men don’t get the bow tie straight. This is crucial, and if a bow tie is crooked in any way, people do notice. People may not say anything, for fear of appearing impolite, but a crooked bow tie is a major style mistake. If you are going to wear a bow tie with a tuxedo, do it right and ensure that your tie is tied tight, and that it is straight.

The whole point of having a bow tie and a tuxedo is to bring across the sense of symmetry. The bow tie perfectly complements the straight lines and edges of the tuxedo, and are meant for each other. So having a crooked tie is a major mistake.

Another way to wear a bow tie is to try and add a bit of fun to a contemporary outfit. Some men even wear bow ties with shirts and jeans, in an attempt to offset the look. It seems like they are making fun of the fact that they’re wearing what they are wearing, but the bowtie, if handled well, can add a fun and exciting element to a contemporary outfit.

As things move along now in fashion, we are seeing more appreciation for the bow tie. If you are going to wear one, invest some money in a decent bow tie, and make a real fashion statement. Remember that you don’t have to wear it with a tuxedo, you can also add it to a contemporary outfit. Just make sure it’s never crooked.
